Hawthorn Coach Sam Mitchell says he is excited to be experimenting with his ruck options, with the club’s three recognised ruckman potentially unavailable for its Round 11 clash.
Ben McEvoy has been on the sidelines for the last two months due to a neck strain, while Max Lynch has entered concussion protocols following a head knock against Brisbane on Sunday.
Ned Reeves, who injured his shoulder in Round 5, will be required to complete a fitness test on Thursday to be available in time to face Gold Coast in Darwin this Saturday night.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Mitchell said the club’s match committee had some “creative ideas” if Reeves doesn’t come up.
“It’s going to be an interesting one in the ruck if he (Reeves) is unavailable,” Mitchell said.
“But I think I’m actually quite excited by that prospect, it means we’re going to have to do something different.
“It will make us quite hard to scout, they (Gold Coast) won’t know who we’re rucking and what type of player we’re going to have.”
