Hawks star Chad Wingard says it is a "huge honour" to play in the club's first ever game in Darwin.
Hawthorn will meet Gold Coast at TIO Stadium in the primetime blockbuster on Saturday night.
Speaking to the media following the club's arrival to Darwin on Friday, Wingard said the visit would be an invaluable experience for all.
“It’s a privilege to play footy up here, it’s obviously a bit of a challenge with the weather, but it's going to be a challenge we’re looking forward to," Wingard said.
“It’s a privilege to play footy for the AFL, for Hawthorn, so to play up here and represent the club, represent my people, it’s a huge honour.
“There’s not too many games that get played up each year, so every time we play up here it's great to give back to this community.
"It’s a huge opportunity, it’s going to be a good experience for our young group."
Saturday's game will mark Hawthorn's second match as part of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round following its thrilling win against Brisbane at UTAS Stadium last week.
