Coach Sam Mitchell says the club will adopt a long-term focus heading into the NAB AFL Mid-Season Draft on Wednesday.

“We want to make sure we get good people into our organisation who can potentially play in our next premiership,” Mitchell said.

“There are definitely a few rucks high up on our order list.

“It wouldn’t be the first time someone has come off the mid-season draft and straight into the team.”

This Sunday's match against Collingwood will carry some extra weight, with veterans Luke Breust and Liam Shiels set to celebrate their 250th games together.

“Most people want their milestone to themselves, but this will be perfect for them. They are guys who never wanted the limelight. So the fact they can share it is really special,” Mitchell said.

“They're both great people and have done a great service to the club. They've both produced such fantastic football, including premierships.

“The legacy they will both leave with, the influence they have had on the organisation and individual players, and the way things run at Hawks.

“Them playing together will be so special. They have played so much together and they are such great friends.”
