James Blanck
195cm
Defender
Box Hill Hawks
James Blanck is officially a Hawk, after being snapped up by Hawthorn with Pick 20 in Wednesday night’s mid-season rookie draft.
The big-bodied defender joins the Hawks after three seasons at Box Hill in the VFL, including last year under now-Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell.
Blanck is the second Box Hill product to be selected by Hawthorn in as many years, following in the footsteps of Jai Newcombe, who was a mid-season draftee last year.
Standing at 195-centremetres tall, Blank is an agile and athletic defender who is strong through the air with his intercept-making ability.
The 21-year-old Eastern Ranges junior has also shown his versatility, with stints up forward and in the ruck.
