Coach Sam Mitchell says producing a more consistent output will be the focus for his side heading into the second half of the season.

Hawthorn will meet the Western Bulldogs this Friday night at Marvel Stadium following a bye last week.

Mitchell said he hopes his group will continue to make progress throughout the remainder of the 2022 season.

“What we’re trying to do is execute a game style that will stand up in finals footy,” Mitchell said.

“We’ve played patches of football that will stand up to that sort of rigor, but we haven’t been consistent enough.

“I think what we’d all like to see as Hawks fans and as the coach is that consistency of effort.

“We’ve got work to do in every aspect of our game and our job as coaches and staff is to get that to happen as quickly as possible.”

Mitchell said he expects the Western Bulldogs’ unique brand of football to test his young group.

The Bulldogs most recently coming off a 20-point win against Greater Western Sydney, in which they finished with a score of 125 points.

“It’s not too often that you see both sides score over 100 points, but it was good to watch for the fans.

“Hopefully we can continue to be free flowing and score highly, but obviously we’d love to keep them to as low as score as possible, which is every coach’s dilemma.

“We haven’t been afraid to open games up and let them be a bit higher scoring.”
