Hawthorn is proud to announce its partnership with Pancare Foundation in preparation for next month’s Dare to Hope Match.
The Dare to Hope Match will take place in Round 18, when Hawthorn hosts West Coast at the MCG.
Dare to Hope is a campaign ignited by former Hawthorn premiership player and 1991 Norm Smith Medallist Paul Dear, along with his wife Cherie.
After a celebrated 123-game career in the brown and gold from 1987 to 1996, Dear was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2020, one of Australia’s deadliest cancers.
Through resilience and sheer dedication, Dear and his family have taken control of their journey to fight this disease by daring to hope, and inspiring others similarly impacted.
The Sunday 17 July fixture will aim to drive awareness of pancreatic cancer, along with raising money for the Dare to Hope: Paul Dear Pancreatic Cancer Fund.
The dedicated fund will support research to discover new, innovative treatment options to better treat pancreatic cancer, in partnership with Pancare Foundation.
Dear and his family are set to attend the Dare to Hope Match against the Eagles, which coincides with the 31-year anniversary of Hawthorn’s 1991 Grand Final win over West Coast and Paul’s best-on-ground performance.
