After some great news surrounding Ben McEvoy’s long-awaited return, Hawthorn is unfortunately also facing a couple of injury blows with two Hawks ruled out for the remainder of the season.
James Worpel will not make a return to the field this year after it was confirmed this week that he will require shoulder surgery.
The 23-year-old was substituted out of the game after dislocating his right shoulder in a tackle in the opening quarter of last week’s loss to GWS.
In some further disappointing news, defender Lachlan Bramble has also suffered a season-ending back injury.
It comes after the youngster was dealt with an interrupted start to the season due to suffering a stress fracture in his foot.
He went on to play every game since making his return in Round 7.
After missing the Hawks' Round 15 match due to a calf injury, the Hawks are now expected to be without Chad Wingard for the next month after he injured his hamstring at training late last week.
Sam Frost also remains some time away from a return after injuring his knee during the narrow loss to Fremantle in Round 13.
Meanwhile in some promising news, ruckman Max Lynch is set to be available for selection after ongoing concussion issues, given he ticks off the final boxes at training this week.
