Hawthorn defender Sam Frost has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
Frost has been on the sidelines since Round 13 after injuring the cartilage in his knee during the Hawks’ narrow loss to Fremantle.
Although progressing well with his rehab, Frost’s recovery has gone slower than expected and he unfortunately will run out of time to make a return by the end of the season.
The club has decided to take a cautious approach with the 28-year-old, making sure he is fully fit come the 2023 pre-season.
James Worpel will undergo a shoulder reconstruction after dislocating it during a tackle in the Hawks’ loss to Greater Western Sydney.
Draftee Ned Long will miss at least the next week following a concussion he sustained in Box Hill’s game against the Southport Sharks on Saturday.
First-year Hawk Sam Butler will also spend another week on the sidelines due to a shin issue.
Meanwhile in some positive news, Connor Downie is set to be available for selection following an interrupted season due to several setbacks.
Downie most recently spent the last month on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.
Hear the latest from Hawthorn Doctor Liam West in this week’s injury report.
