It’s now just a little more than two weeks until we make history when our Hawthorn women's team take to the field for the very first time.
We’re set to square off with long-standing rivals Essendon in a Saturday night blockbuster, and I have no doubt our Senior Coach Bec Goddard will have our players ready and raring to go.
It presents a real opportunity for our football club to throw our full support behind our AFLW team.
We want to sell out North Port Oval so the game is relocated to Marvel Stadium. Marvel Stadium is fitting for our inaugural game.
The only way for this to happen is for our fans to go online and purchase their ticket for Round 1. This is the time for those that haven’t signed up as an AFLW member to do so and snap up their tickets quickly.
We want our AFLW team playing in front of big, passionate brown and gold crowds in the elite stadiums of the country.
Every ticket secured heightens the likelihood of the clash taking place under the roof at Docklands.
Led by our inaugural captain Tilly Lucas-Rodd, along with our talented leadership group in vice-captain Jess Duffin, Lou Stephenson and Tamara Luke, the side is aspiring to play an exciting and attacking brand of football – something our Hawthorn fans can be proud of.

We look forward to seeing the stands full of brown and gold as we drown out the Essendon faithful in our quest for our first win.
