Hawthorn’s blockbuster Round 1 AFLW clash against Essendon has been moved to Marvel Stadium.
The match was originally fixtured for North Port Oval but due to unprecedented demand, the game was declared a sellout and moved to Marvel Stadium.
This means that more brown and gold fans can witness this new chapter in our rivalry with the Bombers on Saturday 27 August.
The match will be played at the same scheduled time, 7.10pm and fans who have already purchased their tickets to the Round 1 match will be able to access Marvel Stadium with their existing tickets.
Hawthorn CEO Justin Reeves said this was a great result for the club.
“People power has spoken!” Reeves said.
“It’s incredibly exciting that our historic Round 1 clash against Essendon will now be played at Marvel Stadium - where it should be,” Reeves said.
“It’s a momentous occasion for our club and we’re pleased that more fans will be able to witness this new chapter in our rivalry.”
More tickets for the game will be released here at 12pm AEST tomorrow and fans are encouraged to get in quick for this historic occasion. Hawthorn AFLW members will gain free entry to the match.
