Karl Amon is officially a Hawk after making the call to join the brown and gold as an unrestricted free agent.
The 27-year-old Victorian has committed to a four-year deal to return to his home state as the AFL Free Agency Period commenced on Friday at 9am.
Amon comes to Hawthorn at the peak of his powers, having spent the past nine seasons at Port Adelaide where he’s risen to prominence as one of the league’s most talented wingmen through 124 games.
The skilled ball user is fresh from a career-best season in 2022, where he topped Port Adelaide’s Brownlow vote-getters after averaging almost 24 disposals per game, including 15.5 kicks and 5.8 marks – which was graded elite, comparative to his peers in the same position.
Hawthorn National List and Recruiting Manager Mark McKenzie said the club was delighted to secure Amon’s signature.
“We are thrilled to officially welcome Karl to Hawthorn,” McKenzie said.
“It’s pleasing to hear Karl indicate his decision to commit to the club was based around the positive direction of the organisation and the exciting brand of football being developed.
“He is an incredibly gifted athlete and can be damaging by foot.
“With more than 100 games under his belt, we believe his skillset and experience will complement our young and developing list.”
