Season summary:
Morris managed six games for the Hawks at the top level in his third year in the brown and gold.
The 20-year-old earned the call-up on the back of a strong patch of form for Box Hill in the VFL.
His stint in the AFL saw him use his toughness and footy smarts to shut down opposition small forwards as an important member of the Hawks back six.
Best AFL game:
Morris’ most effective match came in Round 19 when the Hawks took on North Melbourne in Hobart. He enjoyed an impressive outing as Hawthorn chalked up a comfortable 46-point win, collecting a career-high 14 disposals.
How the coaches saw him:
“After stringing consistent games together at VFL level, Josh played in the senior side in Round 17 against Adelaide until an injury unfortunately ended his year in Round 20 against St Kilda. In those four games for us this year, he played on some of the oppositions’ best small forwards and became a very reliable part of our back six.” – Chris Newman
