Louise Stephenson, Tegan Cunningham and Zoe Barbakos will all undergo a test to prove their fitness for Hawthorn’s Saturday night bout against Brisbane.

Stephenson has been sidelined since Round 2 with an ankle injury but has made significant progress in her recovery.

Hawks AFLW High Performance Manager Olivia Knowles praised the defender’s work ethic.

“Lou has worked really hard to get herself in a position where she has been able to integrate into main group training. She will be tested this week to determine her availability,” Knowles said.

Cunningham has missed Hawthorn’s past two games with a foot injury, but Knowles said the injury is tracking in the right direction.

“Tegan’s foot injury has made significant improvement but will need to be tested at training this week to determine her availability,” Knowles said.

Speaking about Barbakos, Knowles said she was progressing well through the AFL’s concussion protocols.

“Zoe has progressed to the final stage of the concussion protocol and will be assessed for availability following main group training this week,” Knowles said.

In unfortunate news, defender Mackenzie Eardley’s season has ended prematurely due to a hand injury.

“Mackenzie has had an unfortunate end to her season and will require surgery to repair a fracture in her hand which was sustained in a spoiling incident during our Round 8 match,” Knowles said.

The Hawks will face the Lions in their final home game for the season at Frankston Oval on Saturday night.
