We've summarised the careers so far of the three fresh faces that joined the brown and gold during the 2022 trade period.

Familiarise yourself below with new Hawks Karl Amon, Lloyd Meek and Cooper Stephens.

Karl Amon

Games: 124

Age: 27

Position: Wingman

2022 averages per game:

23.6 disposals

3.7 tackles

4.1 inside 50s

5.8 marks

Karl Amon became the first player to move clubs during the 2022 trade period, joining Hawthorn from Port Adelaide.

Amon established himself as one of the best wingmen in the AFL last year when he was selected in the All-Australian squad before finishing fourth in the Power's John Cahill Medal.

His ability to carry the ball and drive it forward effectively was a key factor in Port Adelaide's increased scoring capacity in 2021, and he continued to show his strong value in 2022.

Producing another strong season this year, Amon averaged 23.6 disposals, 15.5 kicks and 487.8 metres gained across 22 games.

He finished his 2022 season within the top five for Port Adelaide's disposals, tackles and marks.

The 27-year-old was also the Power’s top vote-winner in this year’s Brownlow Medal - the 12th highest in the league.

Amon has played most of his footy as a wingman, but added some strings to his bow this year by operating as an inside midfielder.

Lloyd Meek

Games: 15

Age: 24

Position: Ruck

Hawthorn added to its ruck options by securing the signature of former Docker Lloyd Meek.

The 24-year-old has shown glimpses of strong potential through 15 games for Fremantle, after the 203cm emerging ruckman was selected with Pick 69 in the 2017 national draft.

With Sean Darcy starring in recent years, Meek struggled to stake a permanent claim to the ruck spot at the Dockers, but when he did get his chance on the big stage, he didn't disappoint.

Meek averaged 19.5 hit outs per game in 2022, including a career-high 32 hit outs against Adelaide in Round 1.

He also produced an outstanding season for Peel Thunder in the WAFL, claiming their best and fairest award for 2022.

While playing some consistent footy for Peel Thunder throughout the year, he still managed six games for the Dockers at senior level.

Cooper Stephens

Games: 7

Age: 21

Position: Midfielder

After two seasons at Geelong, Cooper Stephens finally got his chance to make his AFL debut 2022.

The 2019 first round draft selection faced back-to-back seasons of frustration, cut short by injury and the lack of football at VFL level during COVID-19.

Stephens was taken with Pick 16 and joined the Cats having played with the Geelong Falcons in the 2019 NAB League, where he was co-captain.

The 188cm tough inside midfielder performed well in the draft combine, specifically in the endurance testing where he came equal first in the Yo-Yo test.

After a big pre-season which included a 15-disposal outing against the Suns in the AAMI Community Series, Stephens went on to make his debut in 2022.

The 21-year-old played seven games for Geelong across their premiership season, highlighted by a strong 19-disposal and four-mark performance against GWS in Round 8.

Stephens joins a long list of current Hawks players who have arrived to the brown and gold as lifelong supporters of the club.
