Hawthorn AFLW midfielder Jasmine Fleming is in the running to feature in this season’s AFL Players’ Association 22under22 side after being named in the 44-player squad.
The fan-voted concept rewards the AFLW’s best young players aged 22 and under who have made an impact on their club and the competition so early in their careers.
Fleming’s inclusion in the extended squad comes off the back of a stellar debut season where she set the competition alight with her bursts of speed, tackling pressure and elite ball use.
Across her nine games this season, the 18-year-old averaged 14.4 disposals, 4.3 tackles and 3.2 clearances.
Fleming’s breakout game came in Round 4 where she gathered a career-high 25 disposals to go with six clearances and three tackles. She backed this up with a NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination in Round 5 off the back of 16 disposals and 10 tackles in Hawthorn’s inaugural AFLW win.
For a player to be eligible in the squad of 44, they were required to play 50 per cent of season games, equating to five matches.
Voting is open HERE from November 9 to November 16.
The final team will be announced on November 22.
