Hawthorn Football Club is pleased to announce the results of its 2022 Presidential and Directors election.
Andy Gowers has been elected by the members as the President of Hawthorn at the club’s AGM on Tuesday evening.
Gowers joins the Board as President after a previous stint as Football Director for four years from late 2013. He also enjoyed a celebrated playing career for the brown and gold, which included Hawthorn’s 1991 premiership win. Professionally, Andy is a succession adviser after spending over 20 years in wealth management.
Meanwhile, Katie Hudson, James Merlino and Anne-Marie Pellizzer have been elected by the members onto the Board, filling the remaining Director vacancies.
Hudson has already served on the Board after being elected as Director in 2019. She is currently a director and shareholder in Yarra Capital Management, which is an independent funds management organisation. She is also the Chair of the club’s AFLW Football Sub-Committee and Finance Sub-Committee.
Pellizzer has also already served on the Board after she was elected as Director in 2019. She has applied her extensive medical knowledge during her time in the role to help support Hawthorn past players, while also practising as a peri-operative physician at the East Melbourne private hospitals, as well as St Vincent’s Public Hospital. Pellizzer is the chair of the Hawthorn History, Tradition and Past Players Committee as well as being the Board’s representative on the Awards Committee.
Merlino joins the Board for the first time after recently retiring from Victorian Parliament. During his 20-year parliamentary career, Merlino filled a variety of senior positions, including Deputy Premier and Minister for Education. He is also the Chair of Rest Industry Superannuation Fund.
The club wishes to thank all members who participated in the electoral process.
Hawthorn would also like to acknowledge CorpVote Pty Ltd who ran the independent voting process. All votes were submitted through the CorpVote system and run as a secret ballot process.
