Hawthorn is set to enter the 2023 season with a relatively healthy squad with less than a handful of players currently on the injury list.
Wingman Harry Morrison will be a test to play ahead of the Hawks' Round 1 clash against Essendon this Sunday following his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Hawthorn's High Performance Manager Peter Burge said Morrison's rehabilitation program progressed significantly last week.
"Harry late last week integrated into our main group with some skill work and then on the weekend we had a solid session here, and he did most of that session," Burge said.
"He also did some extra work seperate to the group, so he walked away with a full game-length of training load to prepare himself for this week.
"Now he'll come to training on Thursday, do our main session, and providing that all goes to plan he'll be available for selection on the weekend."
Meanwhile, forward Emerson Jeka has been ruled out for the start of the season after suffering a hamstring strain during the opening quarter of Box Hill's practice match against Williamstown on Friday.
"He was running at moderate to high speed, changing direction through some traffic and unfortunately he hurt himself and is going to be missing five to six weeks with this injury."
