Hawthorn draftee Josh Weddle has avoided an injury scare after rolling his ankle at training last week.
While yet to make his AFL debut, Weddle was named in the extended squad ahead of Easter Monday's game against Geelong, but was later replaced by James Blanck following the club's main training session on Friday.
Hawthorn's High Performance Manager Peter Burge said the injury was minor and that Weddle was expected to participate in a full week of training and return to play this weekend.
"He had an incident towards the end of training where he rolled his ankle," Burge said.
"As of Saturday his ankle had swollen up, we then had another look at him on Sunday during our Barra's Yama (Captain's Run) session the day before the game.
"He did the session, but he wasn't 100 per cent comfortable, so we just made the easy decision to skip this week and bring him back for the next game, being this week."
Burge has also provided an update on key forward Mitch Lewis who recently re-joined training with the main group.
"Mitch is now progressing into what we call partial, modified skills, and next week he'll be into full skills," Burge explained.
"He's doing a lot more with the group already, he had a good session last Friday and did half of the training session with the group and we'll progress that this week.
"He's looking really good, he's feeling really good and he's pushing us with his timeline, but as I said last week, I think Round 7 is the more realistic timeframe."
