Several Hawks have been recognised for their impressive performances this week, with four receiving votes from the coaches.
The votes were spread in the match against the Western Bulldogs, with eight players polling, led by Will Day and Caleb Daniel (five votes each).
Midfielder Jai Newcombe (four), defender Blake Hardwick (three) and ruckman Ned Reeves (three) were the other Hawks to receive votes.
Newcombe had a dominate game, recording game-highs for contested possessions (19) and clearances (9), as well as seven score involvements and booting two goals.
Meanwhile, Hardwick did a terrific job on shutting down forward Cody Weightman, keeping keeping him goalless and to just three disposals for the match – his lowest tally since Round 15 against Hawthorn last year.
Hardwick was able to also impact the game himself, finishing with the equal-second most disposals for the game (27) alongside a game-high 12 marks and an impressive 492 metres gained.
Reeves produced an enormous performance against the competition’s most in-form big man in Tim English finishing with a career-high 14 of his 43 hit-outs to advantage.
He also recorded a career-best 15 disposals – 10 of which were contested – a career-high three inside 50s, five score involvements, and to top it off a team-high six tackles, which for a big man is very impressive.
The Hawks will now prepare to travel to Western Australia to take on Fremantle this Saturday at Optus Stadium from 7.30pm.
