Sam Mitchell has acknowledged the work of Victoria's emergency services personnel ahead of the club's Emergency Services Match on Saturday.
"I think it's one of those things where we all take for granted," Mitchell said.
"It takes a special type of person to work in these operations and industries, so many of them are volunteers.
"To be able to stop and spend a week thinking about the people who sacrifice so much of their lives in what can be pretty risky work, I think it's worthwhile to acknowledge those people who put in that level of commitment."
Mitchell said his side would be looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Fremantle on the weekend.
"We definitely took a step backwards on the weekend, we're really disappointed with the performance," Mitchell said.
"We had some things in our game that went well, but we couldn't capitalise.
"And once they got their game going, we didn't have enough tools in the kit bag to get momentum back at any stage.
"We have just done our review and we'll start to look forward to Melbourne this weekend."
