Hawthorn is looking to continue its its recent good record against the Brisbane Lions when it hosts the 4th-placed side at the MCG this Saturday.
The Hawks have edged out the Lions in their last three encounters, including in Round 10 last year, where the brown and gold pulled off a memorable upset victory in Launceston.
Three-time premiership Hawk Jack Gunston will face his old side for the first time, as he returns to the MCG in rival colours after departing Hawthorn at the end of last season.
The home side, currently in 16th position on the ladder, is searching for its fourth win for 2023, before it heads into a BYE next weekend.

Last time we met
Hawthorn 19.9 (117) def. Brisbane Lions 17.10 (112) - Round 10, 2022
HAWTHORN caused one of the upsets of the season, handing Brisbane just its second loss at the time, with a five-point win at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston.
In what was a hugely entertaining game from the opening bounce, there was never more than six points separating the sides at the three breaks.
The Lions took a four-point edge into the fourth quarter, but it was the Hawks who stood tall, kicking five goals to four in the last term.
With Jack Gunston missing due to an ankle injury that he suffered during the round nine loss to Richmond, Sam Mitchell turned to an unlikely replacement to fill the void. Renowned for being a lockdown defender, Sam Frost spent time in the forward line, and the former Demon made his coach look like a genius when he kicked his first goal since round nine, 2017 (93 games) during the second quarter. It was Frost's first goal at Hawthorn, and just the ninth of his 139-game career.
Jai Newcombe enhanced his credentials for the Rising Star award, with another brilliant performance. Newcombe, who was drafted by Hawthorn with pick two in the 2021 mid-season rookie draft, continued his excellent 2022 campaign, finishing the match – his 17th at AFL level - with 27 possessions (14 contested), nine clearances, six inside 50s, 664 metres gained, 24 pressure acts, six tackles, 12 score involvements and one goal in a best-on-ground performance.
Our last game
Port Adelaide 23.13 (151) def Hawthorn 14.12 (96)
AN UTTERLY dominant first half set up Port Adelaide for a 55-point belting of Hawthorn, but the margin could have been greater if not for a second-half fightback from the Hawks.
The Power's 82-point halftime lead was also a record for Ken Hinkley's club. Midway through the third term, the hosts were 96 points up.
But the Hawks stemmed the bleeding by kicking eight of the last 10 goals of the game.
The only bright spot in Hawthorn's dismal first half was Luke Breust kicking his 500th career goal, joining Leigh Matthews, Jason Dunstall, Lance Franklin, Peter Hudson, Michael Moncrieff and Jarryd Roughead as Hawks to reach that milestone.
Breust finished with five goals in a standout display for the brown and gold, while Mitch Lewis slotted three majors.
Onballer James Worpel gathered a match-high 35 disposals, while former Power pair Jarman Impey (33 touches, one goal) and Karl Amon (25, one goal) battled gamely against the Port tide.
