Hawthorn will return to the MCG on Sunday to host Carlton at the venue for the first time since 2015.

The Hawks will be on the hunt for revenge after falling to the Blues in a thrilling one point loss when they last met in Round 3 of last year.

The brown and gold will be trying to keep intact its record of not having lost a home game against Carlton since 2000.

Last time we met

Carlton (74) defeated Hawthorn (73) - Round 3, 2022

After bursting out to a 41-point lead nine minutes into the second term, the Blues withstood a Hawthorn tidal wave to run out one-point winners in what was a thriller between old rivals at the MCG.

Dylan Moore kicked the opening goal of the game after five minutes, before the Blues piled on seven unanswered majors.

Moore again kicked the opening goal of the second term, before Jack Silvagni and Charlie Curnow both added their second in quick succession.

Curnow kicked his third goal in the early stages of the third quarter, but Mitch Lewis opened his account soon after.

The Hawks continued to press, and goals to Connor Macdonald and Chad Wingard – playing his 50th game for the club - reduced the margin to 18 points.

The Blues lead soon evaporated, with the Hawks then going on to kick six in a row, but despite former Hawk Jack Gunston slotting the last of major the match, it wasn't enough, with the Hawks falling to the Blues by just one point.

Our last game

Gold Coast (101) defeated Hawthorn (34) - Round 16

After an impressive last month, which saw the Hawks win three of their last four games, last weekend's match-up against Gold Coast resulted in a disappointing outcome.

Hawthorn picked up from where it left off prior to the bye against Brisbane, kicking the opening three goals and stretching the Suns with their run-and-gun game.

However, the Suns turned the screws from the second quarter and never looked back, kicking 14 goals to Hawthorn's five to charge to a 67-point win at their home ground.

Will Day (29 disposals), Blake Hardwick (38), Jarman Impey (29) and James Worpel (28) featured among the best for the Hawks in what was a challenging day.
