Defender Jarman Impey will be a test to play this weekend after he was a late withdrawal from the side ahead of last week's clash with Carlton.

High Performance Manager Peter Burge said Impey flagged he experienced some back soreness following the Gold Coast game.

"It came more apparent towards the middle of the week with our main training that he wasn't feeling as good as we expected," Burge said.

"He completed our last session on the Saturday, but still didn't feel where he needed to be to play the game, and based on his feedback and our assessments he didn't play.

"But he's a lot better today (Tuesday) and I'd expect him to be training on Thursday. We'll be in a better position to make more of a definitive call after main training on Thursday for this weekend."

Meanwhile, Burge said Tyler Brockman is expected to make his return on the weekend after also missing last Sunday's game.

"He completed our main session, but wasn't feeling 100 per cent, he didn't improve from that either so it deteriorated a little bit over the next day. We made the call we'd let him rest up," Burge said.

"He turned up today (Tuesday), he feels good, and trained today and will train Thursday and we expect him to play this weekend."

Meanwhile, Changkuoth Jiath is off the injury list after making a welcome return through the VFL on Saturday, finishing with 26 disposals and five marks, while playing limited game minutes.

Burge said Jiath would return to training this week and be available for selection on the weekend.

"We managed his game minutes (in his VFL return), he probably played 10 per cent less than his normal game time, given he's missed seven weeks which is a lot longer than we initially expected," Burge said.

"The initial injury evolved and became not just a calf issue, but an achilles issue as well, and we had to respect that being more tendon. On the weekend he played and performed and we saw him back to his exciting best."

If named in the side this week agains the Giants, it will mark Jiath's first AFL appearance since Round 9.

Hawthorn is set to announce its side for Saturday’s game on Thursday at 6.20pm.

Josh Morris (shoulder) and Fionn O'Hara (knee) have been added to the injury list while Emerson Jeka (calf) is set to be available.
