James Worpel’s dominant performance on Sunday against North Melbourne has landed him MVP honours.
The midfield bull continued his prolific 2023 campaign on the weekend, finishing with 32 disposals, seven clearances and a whopping 702 metres gained in Hawthorn's win.
In his impressive display, the 24-year-old also kicked a goal, recorded nine inside 50s and 10 score involvements.
Worpel has played in every game so far this season and is averaging a career-high 26 disposals and 6.1 clearances, along with 5.5 score involvements, 5.5 inside-50s and 4.1 tackles per game.
Speaking post-game, Coach Sam Mitchell said Worpel was a clear stand-out on the day.
“Worps is great example of persistence,” Mitchell said.
“The level of motivation he’s shown year after year has been so consistent, and at some point, he was going to get rewarded for all that effort.
“His worked so hard for so long and now he’s great to see him getting some benefit.”
