Hawthorn midfielder Tamara Smith will make her return to the Hawthorn line-up on Saturday afternoon when the Hawks take on Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

Smith missed the club's Round 2 win over the Western Bulldogs due to suspension while also dealing with a shoulder injury, but has passed a fitness test to be named for Saturday's clash.

The 23-year-old comes into the side at the expense of forward Mattea Breed.

Hawthorn General Manager of Football Operations Max Bailey said Smith was a welcome inclusion as the team looks to win back-to-back games.

"It's fantastic to have a player like Tamara come into the team this week," Bailey said.

"We all know that she is a tackling machine and that the Dockers have a tackling machine of their own in Kiara Bowers, so the midfield battle will be a great one to watch."
