Hawthorn has finalised its AFL coaching structure ahead of season 2024, with the appointment of former Saint and NFL punter Arryn Siposs as a development coach.
Siposs’ AFL playing career saw him spend five seasons at St Kilda from 2011-2015, including earning a Rising Star nomination in 2012.
Following his time at the Saints, Siposs embarked upon a professional sporting career in the US, playing with the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles from 2020-2023.
In addition to his experience across two elite sporting environments, Siposs served as an assistant coach at Brighton Grammar School and Hallam Sports Academy from 2016-2018.
In further changes to the structure of the coaching line-up, Assistant Coach Adrian Hickmott will now oversee the forward line, while David Mackay has been elevated to a full-time development role as part of the AFL program in 2024.
Hawthorn General Manager of Football Rob McCartney said the structural changes will benefit the club’s developing list.
“We believe our entire coaching team is well balanced to continue developing our young list and giving them every opportunity to succeed,” McCartney said.
"Arryn joins our club with great experience and perspective following exposure across two high performance environments, in the AFL and NFL, which we believe will benefit our program immensely. We see him being a great fit for our talented young list and helping develop players, both on and off the field.
“Through both our AFL and AFLW program David has demonstrated he has a bright future as a young coach. Stepping into a full-time role with our AFL program will allow him to deepen his relationships and development opportunities with our younger players.”
