The Hawks landed four new promising faces following the draft this week, with Nick Watson, Will McCabe, Bodie Ryan and Calsher Dear finding a home in the brown and gold.

Hear what National List and Recruiting Manager Mark McKenzie had to say on each of our fresh and exciting talents below.

Nick Watson (Pick 5)

"He's small in size, but he's making it work... he's been making it work for a long time now. The last two years he has been fantastic in that small forward position, which is where we see him. But he's been able to come up the ground a little bit more, especially this year as a high-half forward or on the wing. He's an elite small forward, and that's what we want to bring into our footy club."

Will McCabe (Pick 19)

"Will has really improved, especially over the last 12 months. He's now standing at 197cm, they don't grow on trees those guys so to have a 197cm player who can actually play forward and back is great. He played forward a little bit as a 17-year-old last year and then really solidified that key position this year as a backline player. He's got great athleticism, he has that versatility, and can intercept mark, so he brings a lot to the footy club. He'll put on a bit of weight over time, but we're very excited to see what he can bring."

Bodie Ryan (Pick 46)

"Bodie has been great this year, he's a South Australian lad who represented the state in the under-18's national championships too. What we like about Bodie is his competitiveness, he has a great balance of offence and defence as a defender, he can intercept mark. But he's toughness and ability to play one-on-one on those different type of players, whether it be on talls or smalls was something that has stood out. He had a really consistent year, so to be able to get him at Pick 46 was very pleasing for the club."

Calsher Dear (Pick 56)

"It's great to have another father-son come into the footy club and keep that tradition going. In Calsher's case, he has had a great 12 months, he has really developed his footy. He is still raw as a tall forward standing at 195cm, but the improvement he has been able to show over the last year playing as a key forward has been great. We've seen him pinching it in the ruck and have an influence there, he's got great athleticism, can take some great pack marks and take shots on goal."
