Hawthorn has selected talented midfielder Mikayla Williamson with Pick 17 in the 2023 AFL Women’s Draft.
Williamson had an outstanding 2023 campaign for the Dandenong Stingrays, averaging 20.9 disposals and 5.1 tackles, leading to her being selected in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year.
The 18-year-old went on to represent Vic Country and dominated with averages of 18.3 disposals and four tackles, earning her All Australian honours.
She further impressed for the Australian U18 team in its representative match against the U23 All Stars, collecting a game-high 26 disposals.
Williamson rounded out her year by breaking the draft combine 2km time trial record, blitzing the field with a time of 7:09.
She backed that up by ranking second overall in the agility test with a time of 8.32 seconds.
The emerging midfielder possesses incredible agility, endurance and explosiveness, which is set to mix in perfectly with the likes of Emily Bates, Jasmine Fleming and Tilly Lucas-Rodd in an exciting Hawthorn midfield group.
