The AFLW Trade Period is done and dusted, with Hawthorn having successfully acquired Melbourne premiership duo Casey Sherriff and Eliza West.

Sherriff, 25, was originally recruited by the Demons as a replacement player in 2019 but has since gone on to play 48 AFLW games in a number of positions.

Now at the Hawks, Sherriff looks forward to providing plenty of speed, endurance and outside run on the wing.

West, 26, came across to the Demons after a stellar basketball career which included going to college and playing for Utah State as well as featuring for the Knox Raiders in the NBL1 competition.

She became known for her ferocity at the contest as an inside midfielder at Melbourne, averaging 17.2 disposals and 6.4 tackles per game in her most recent campaign.

Not only will the duo bring premiership experience to the Hawks, but they will also bring great chemistry, having played basketball together as juniors and then progressing to playing football together for Melbourne and now Hawthorn.

In exchange for Sherriff and West, the Hawks parted ways with Pick 5 and Pick 26 in the AFLW Draft.

This left Hawthorn with Melbourne's Pick 16, along with Pick 45.

Attention now turns to the AFLW Draft, which commences at 7pm via AFL.com.au on Monday 18 December.
