Hawthorn AFLW List Manager Mitchell Cashion has expressed his excitement for the club’s future after a successful trade period, pre-signing period and draft.
The Hawks first brought in gun trio Laura Stone, Hayley McLaughlin and Jess Vukic as part of the AFLW’s pre-signing period before securing the signatures of premiership duo Eliza West and Casey Sherriff in the trade period and capping it off by drafting talented Dandenong Stingrays pair Mikayla Williamson and Sophie Butterworth.
Read what Cashion had to say about each group of signings below.
On Mikayla Williamson and Sophie Butterworth…
“We were very shocked that they got to where they got to. They’re both really talented individuals but also really good people so we’re rapt to have them as part of the club.”

On Laura Stone, Hayley McLaughlin and Jess Vukic…
“When you combine that with the draft hand we had last year… all of a sudden, we can see what our group is going to look like in three or four years’ time. Laura, Jess and Hayley - they’re all players we consider first-round talent. We were thankful that they got recognised tonight (at draft night) which they deserve. It’s a great moment for them and their families. It’s really special and exciting for the club and where we’re going.”

On Eliza West and Casey Sherriff…
“Casey and Eliza are players with premiership experience that we know will help in the immediate times. To have them part of the group and impart their knowledge on our young and talented group - it’s really valuable for us.”
