Second-year Hawk Henry Hustwaite has signed with the club for a further two years, becoming the latest youngster to commit to the brown and gold.
Hustwaite's new deal will keep him in Hawthorn colours until at least the end of 2026, after being selected by the club with Pick 37 in the 2022 national draft.
He joins fellow draftees Josh Weddle and Bailey Macdonald as the third Hawk to put pen to paper on a contract extension inside the last month.
After making an impressive late-season AFL debut in 2023, Hustwaite has continued his development as a smooth-moving big-bodied midfielder over the summer months, with the 195cm youngster firming as a breakout candidate for 2024.
Hawthorn National Recruiting and List Manager Mark McKenzie said Hustwaite’s progression had been one to watch over the past pre-season.
“Hus has made some huge strides on the back of getting his first taste of AFL football last year and we’re really excited about what he can deliver in 2024,” McKenzie said.
“For a developing 195cm midfielder, he’s shown a great ability to win clearances, find space with the footy and is a great user, especially by hand.
“No doubt Hus will be hungry to continue his progression and make an impact at AFL level this year, his growth has seen him flourish into another exciting piece of our young and developing midfield that will benefit the brown and gold for many years to come.”
