Last time we met

GWS (85) defeated Hawthorn (72) in Round 17, 2023

Hawthorn was brave in this seesawing affair, falling short of the finals-bound Giants by 13 points.

The Giants opened their account with five goals to Hawthorn's three in the first term before the margin was reduced to two at half-time.

The Hawks battled wilfully during the second half but it was GWS who came out on top on its home ground.

The game provided moments to remember for defensive duo Denver Grainger-Barras and Seamus Mitchell, with Grainger-Barras kicking his first AFL goal and Mitchell being nominated for the AFL's Rising Star award off the back of 20 disposals, five intercept possessions and four marks.

Jai Newcombe was one of Hawthorn's best players on the day with 28 disposals, nine clearances and three tackles.

Our last game

Hawthorn (107) defeated Adelaide (80)

Hawthorn improved its record to winning five of its past seven games with a 27-point defeat of Adelaide at the MCG.

The Hawks led by nearly 50 points in the third term on their way to the win.

Veteran forward Jack Gunston celebrated his 250th game with three majors while Dylan Moore received a perfect 10 coaches' votes following his five goals and 27 disposals.

What's on?

As part of their return to University of Tasmania Stadium, the Hawks are celebrating local Tassie football legends.
