Hawthorn's Jack Ginnivan delivered a standout performance at the MCG on Saturday against the Pies to earn Round 19 MVP honours in his first game back from suffering a hairline crack in his leg.

Ginnivan was everywhere in the his side's massive 66-point win over the reigning premiers, leading the disposal count for the game with a career-high 31 disposals, including 11 contested possession.

The 21-year-old also hit the scoreboard with two goals in the third and fourth quarters respectively, as well as a game-high 11 score involvements.

Ginnivan's forward pressure was evident from start to finish through his game-high three tackles inside 50.

The best-on-ground performance for the Hawks marks Ginnivan’s second MVP nod of the 2024 season, after his club debut in Round 1.

Senior Coach Sam Mitchell spoke glowingly about Ginnivan's outing in his post-match press conference.

"We know he's important for what he does for us as a side – we've missed him the last couple of weeks – to get him back we knew that would bring a lot of energy," Mitchell said.

"The sense of theatre of the game was fantastic. All of the 72,000 that came would have loved the theatre of the game today. I was rapt for him. He is only 21 years old. If you think about how long it feels he's been around, how many times he's been on the back page or there has been a story about him, he seems he is much older, but he is 21.

"He is still maturing, still growing into his footy, still getting used to his teammates. He is going to continue to improve, but it has all come off the back of an enormous workrate and a desire to prove that he can be a fantastic and well-rounded player and not a flash in the pan."
