Hawthorn mid-season recruit Jasper Scaife is in the mix for a return to play after sustaining a finger injury at training two weeks ago.

High Performance Manager Peter Burge provided an update on his fitness, as well as the health of forward duo Chad Wingard and Josh Bennetts in the club's Round 20 Nissan Injury Update.

Jasper Scaife (finger) - Test

"He's going really well and he's been conditioning for the past couple of sessions. He's not doing any ball handling just yet but we've got two more sessions this week - one tomorrow and one on Friday - and we're planning to get him in on some of that to see how it goes. It's hard to say exactly right now if he's definitely playing but I would suggest it's more likely than unlikely. Again, we've got two more sessions and we'll make that decision later in the week."

Chad Wingard (calf) - 1-2 weeks

"He's progressing really well. He's running pain-free, symptom-free and awareness-free. It's really now just getting a little mini conditioning training phase into him. We are looking at the VFL game at the end of next week. He'll miss this weekend and potentially next week which is one game before the VFL bye. So at this stage, that's the plan but there will be a bit more work to do before we make that final decision."

Josh Bennetts (shoulder) - TBC

"He unfortunately had an incident during the game where he dislocated his shoulder. He was able to get it back in but he took no further part in the game. He's had some scans since and there's a little bit of damage that we need to get some expert advice on, so he'll see a specialist later in the week, we'll get the right advice and then we'll make a decision on where we go from there."
