Hawthorn Vice-Captain Eliza West has made an emphatic start to her brown and gold career, polling a perfect 10 coaches' votes in the Hawks' 38-point win over Carlton on Sunday at Kinetic Stadium, Frankston.

West was prolific in the midfield, recording a team-highs in disposals (29) and clearances (four) as well as game-highs in tackles (10) and contested possessions (25).

The 27-year-old backed it up with four score involvements and six intercept possessions, highlighting her dominance in her first game with the club.

Aileen Gilroy was next best with seven coaches' votes thanks to her equal game-high two majors, game-high six inside 50s, 16 disposals and six score involvements.

Greta Bodey was also recognised by the coaches with five votes for the day.

The Hawks forward hit the scoreboard, recorded 14 disposals, laid six tackles and had a game-high eight score involvements, buzzing around the forward line and providing great energy on the day.

In great reward for effort, emerging defender Emily Everist rounded out the votes with two.

Having recently signed on with the club until at least the end of 2026, Everist won the club's time trial in pre-season and went on to display her running power in Hawthorn's Week 1 victory.

Everist also showcased her defensive smarts, recording 10 disposals and an equal game-high eight intercept possessions.

The Hawks will look to win back-to-back games to start their 2024 campaign, with the team set to face Collingwood for the first time in their history on Saturday afternoon at Victoria Park.
