Last time we met

Hawthorn (79) defeated by Port Adelaide (80) in Round 10, 2024.

Hawthorn led by 28 points at the final change, but Port Adelaide kicked four goals to none in the final term to pinch the victory, with their last two majors coming inside the last 22 seconds.

Hawthorn's Blake Hardwick kicked a career-high five-goal haul, four of those coming in a 17-minute window in the opening term in a six goals to one opening term to give the Hawks a 31-point lead at quarter time.

Will Day (27 disposals, one goal), Massimo D'Ambrosio (28 touches) and ex-Power player Karl Amon (28) were all influential, as was Jai Newcombe early. While Mabior Chol and Cam Mackenzie scored two goals apiece.

Our last game

Hawthorn (99) defeated Western Bulldogs (62) in Elimination Final, 2024.

Hawthorn continued its extraordinary rise with a 37-point win over the Western Bulldogs under lights at the MCG.

The Dogs got off to a fast start with a goal in the first 20 seconds, while the Hawks took slightly longer to settle in. With the exception of Lloyd Meek, who was winning the ruck battle and kicked the first major for his side.

The Hawks trailed by two goals at quarter-time but turned it around to lead by 11 at the main break.

Casher Dear had his share of strong performances in his debut season, but the 18-year-old announced himself in front of a packed-out MCG, finishing with three goals.

Hawthorn skipper James Sicily was outstanding, holding strong in front of the Dogs tall forward line and preventing attack after attack. Jai Newcombe was also sensational, with 35 disposals and a goal for the game.
