Hawthorn’s Casey Sherriff has progressed to the next stage of recovery from her leg and ankle injury sustained three weeks ago, while Bridie Hipwell will continue to manage lower leg soreness.
High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett shared an update on both players and how they’ll look to progress in coming weeks.
Bridie Hipwell (Lower leg) – TBC
“As discussed last week Bridie had a lower leg niggle that we’re managing. We have main training today, that will give us a bit more information on how we continue to manage that particularly given the congested nature of the fixture that we have. But right now, she had a great output on the weekend, we’re really happy with her performance but we’re just going to continue to make some decisions on how we manage that niggle moving forward.”
Casey Sherriff (Leg/Ankle) – TBC
“Casey got her cast off yesterday, so she’s resumed her training as I said last week. She’s got a surgeon’s review tomorrow to look at that wound and pending that review that will sort of clear her to do some more aggressive S&C (strength and conditioning) work in the background. She’s in a boot now so she’s started some partial weight-bearing, we aim next week to have her full weight-bearing and potentially some time out of that boot. Once that happens we’ll have a bit more clear indication about how her return to play plan is going to shape up around the timeline, so still a TBC at this point. Progressing great, it’s great to have Casey around and really positive moves forward.”
