Hawthorn will take on the Cats at GMHBA Stadium in a Week 5 Thursday night football showdown.

The Hawks head into the match with just one loss so far this season, while the Cats sit at one win, two losses and a draw, proving they're not to be underestimated. 

The Hawks are coming off an impressive win over St Kilda in Week 4 and will look to continue their strong form to obtain their fourth victory, which would surpass the most wins in an AFLW season in the club’s history.

Hawthorn (74) defeated St Kilda (17) in Week 4, 2024.

Hawthorn handed St Kilda their first loss of the 2024 season, taking a 57-point victory at RSEA Park.

The first quarter saw an even contest, with the Saints kicking the only major of the term while the Hawks led uncontested possessions 42-28.

Hawks set the pressure standard following the first change, kicking nine goals to none to close out the match.

Six goals came from the boot of Greta Bodey in a career-high performance in front of goal.

Lucy Wales was dominant for the Hawks in the ruck, with 22 hit outs, 23 disposals and nine intercept possessions, landing herself a spot in the best players.

Joining her were Bodey, Eliza West. Jas Fleming, Aine McDonagh and Lucas-Rodd.

Last time we met

Hawthorn (60) defeated by Geelong Cats (20) in Round 10, 2023.

Hawthorn was bested by Geelong in a 40-point loss at GMHBA for the Cats to secure their 2023 finals spot.

The Hawks laid 24 tackles to 10 in the opening term with Emily Bates among the leaders in that area, she finished with 27 disposals and 18 contested possessions.

Aileen Gilroy and Jenna Richardson proved mighty roadblocks for the Geelong attack, collecting eight intercept possessions apiece while the Hawks finished with 86 tackles to 61.

Bates, Richardson, Jas Fleming, Tilly Lucas-Rodd and Kristy Stratton were among the Hawks best.
