Jai Serong has been named the Box Hill Hawks Col Austen Trophy winner as the club’s best and fairest player for 2024.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a stellar season for the VFL Hawks, showcasing his speed and impressive ball use from the backline across 14 games, including the Hawks' VFL Elimination Final.

Serong averaged 21.4 disposals, 7.4 marks and 6.8 rebound 50s across the season, headlined by his strong performance in the agonising Elimination Final defeat, where he collected 29 disposals, a game-high 11 intercept possessions and game-high ten marks.

In a close second Box Hill Captain, Callum Porter was named runner-up in the Col Austen Trophy count.

Porter led from the front, playing every game of the 2024 season, which included his bringing up his 100th VFL game in the Elimination Final, whilst averaging 18.9 disposals and 6.4 tackles per match.

Coming in third was AFL-listed Hawk Henry Hustwaite, who averaged 23.9 disposals across his 15 VFL matches in 2024.

While in the VFLW, Box Hill Captain and former Hawthorn AFLW player Tamara Luke took out the top honour in a landslide.

Luke managed 78 votes in the club champion tally, having played all 15 games across 2024, including the Elimination Final.

The 36-year-old averaged 17.1 hit outs, 13.1 disposals and booted 20 goals to earn the club’s leading goal kicker award.

Rounding out the podium in the VFLW Club Champion was Box Hill 2018 premiership player Rosie Dillon as runner-up, followed by first-year player Danika Spamer in third place.
