Hawthorn ruck Lucy Wales will undergo a fitness test this week to determine her availability for Sunday’s Qualifying Final after suffering an lower leg injury in last weekend’s match.

High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett provided further details on Wales’ injury and an update on Laura Stone’s ankle.

Lucy Wales (Lower Leg) – Test

“Lucy injured a small muscle in her lower leg in the Richmond match, she was assessed during the game by our medical staff and was able to get back on the field and run out the game without issue. She is already feeling better, and we will continue to treat and manage this as required clinically and functionally. We will look to confirm Lucy’s availability later in the week as we monitor this progression.”

Laura Stone (Ankle) – TBC

“Laura is improving well and will begin Alter-G running this week. As previously mentioned we will continue to take a steady approach to her return to play progressions and as such, will take as long as required to ensure she successfully rehabilitates a high level syndesmosis injury.”
