Hawthorn Football Club has announced the results of its 2024 Directors election, with Ian Silk and Tim Shearer being re-elected by the members for another term.
The results of the election were shared to members at the club’s 2024 Annual General Meeting at Bunjil Bagora, Waverley Park on Thursday night.
The independent voting process was undertaken by Vero Voting from Tuesday 26 November to Tuesday 10 December, with all votes submitted through Vero Voting’s system as a secret ballot process.
ELECTION RESULTS (in order of ballot):
- Don Scott (3987 votes)
- Tim Shearer (8427 votes)
- Ian Silk (8040 votes)
Shearer has served on the Board since 2018 and brings a wealth of knowledge to the club with extensive experience across the fundraising and foundation sectors.
Shearer is currently the Head of Advancement at Scotch College, where he manages the college’s building and scholarship fundraising programs and is also the Executive Director of the Scotch College Foundation. Shearer has played a key role in fundraising to support the Kennedy Community Centre, and his work will continue to be critical moving forward.
Silk joined the Board in 2021, following his retirement from the superannuation industry, including where he served as the Chief Executive of Australian Super, a role he held for 15 years.
Silk serves as the Chair of the Club's Governance Risk and Integrity Committee; is a member of the People and Culture Committee, the Kennedy Community Centre Project Control Group, and is the Board's nominated Director on the Board of the Box Hill Hawks.
In congratulating the successful candidates, Hawthorn President Andy Gowers acknowledged the nominees who took part in the election.
