Hawthorn has taken Elli Symonds with Pick 45 in the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft.
The 18-year-old is a tall utility who primarily plays as a ruck forward but can also pinch-hit in the midfield.
The Dandenong Stingrays product has played in the Coates Talent League across 2023 and 2024, with 19 games to her name. In 2024 she averaged 18 disposals, 11 hit-outs, six tackles and kicked three goals.
Symonds also lined up for Vic Country in the AFLW U18 Championships in three games over 2023 and 2024. Her one game in 2024 saw her collect 19 disposals, lay three tackles and hit the scoreboard with a goal.
The Frankston Dolphins junior has impressive athleticism and strength around the contest, complementing her power out of stoppages.
