Much-loved defender Jarman Impey has become the first Hawk to be named in the squad for the highly anticipated 2025 Indigenous All-Stars match.

The 29-year-old is set to line up among a number of talented Indigenous players when they take on Fremantle at Optus Stadium on 15 February.

The proud Yorta Yorta man is no stranger to this special game, having been selected for the last Indigenous All-Stars match in 2015.

Along with his leadership and professionalism, Impey is also fresh from a career-best year in 2024, which saw him earn a podium finish in Hawthorn’s Peter Crimmins Medal Count.

The talented defender was among his side’s most consistent performers last season, averaging 18.8 disposals, 5.6 marks and 5.4 intercept possessions per game.

A widely-respected First Nations role model, Impey also had the honour of captaining the Hawks across Sir Doug Nicholls Round this year.

Speaking about his All-Stars selection, Impey said he was honoured.

“I’m very proud to be selected in the Indigenous All-Stars squad and playing amongst a few great friends and great teammates over my journey,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to representing my people and being a part of the team."

Impey also shared the great memories he has of representing his people on the footy field throughout his career.

“I remember back in the day when I was in the Flying Boomerangs (squad) and I was kicking to Buddy Franklin and Cyril Rioli and it was such a big thing when they were doing the All-Stars back in 2012,” he said.

“I think the last game was in 2015 so I’m very happy that there’s an All-Stars team and that we’re playing against Freo in the near future.”

Tickets for the match will go on sale on Wednesday from 3pm AEDT for club and AFL members and 6pm AEDT for the general public.

Tickets will be available via Ticketmaster and start at $10 for juniors, $35 for adults and $70 for a family of four.
