TAYLOR Duryea says Hawthorn's focus is on improvement and nothing else.
The prospect of winning their fourth flag in a row has not been spoken about, with the group instead focused intently being a better side in 2016.
“We are just aiming to improve really. As a team that is the focus,” Duryea told the media at the Hawk’s open training on the Sunshine Coast.
“This season will be no different to any other, we are going to try and improve and so are 17 other clubs.”
Having played in four straight grand finals the small defender said the Hawks expect to again be ‘hunted’ by opposition sides in 2016.
“If you want to be one of the better sides then you’re going to have sides try to play their best against you,” he said.
“We wouldn’t want it any other way. We like to test ourselves against the best.”
“If teams are bringing their best then it gives you a good account of where you’re at.”
It took Duryea four years as a Hawk to make his AFL debut, but since then he has missed just nine games.
Now a dual premiership player with 63 senior games to his name, the 24-year-old understands as well as anyone the importance of being patient.
“In my first couple of years I really wanted to be in the senior side and was really worrying about the consequences of not being selected,” he said.
“But once you did your thing at Box Hill you got recognised. The thing is to be patient and to let your time come.”
