PAUL Puopolo says Hawthorn will be determined to redeem itself next week, after its disappointing qualifying final loss to West Coast Eagles on Friday night.
The Hawks went down to the Eagles by 32 points, and will now face the winner of Saturday night’s elimination final between the Western Bulldogs and Adelaide Crows.
Puopolo said the Hawks would look forward to their next contest, which will be on Friday night.
“We were pretty disappointed with the way we played (against the Eagles),” Puopolo said.
“Obviously we’ve got the second chance now to redeem ourselves. Hopefully we don’t make the same mistake, because if we do we’ll be out.”
The small forward said the Eagles adapted better to the conditions at Domain Stadium.
“They adapted to the conditions a little bit better than us (and) the way they were moving the ball in the conditions,” he said.
“We were kicking it a lot higher and they could cut out marks. They were surging a lot lower and kicking the ball a lot lower, so our backs couldn’t get there and cut off marks.
Little separated the teams at quarter time, before a five-goal-to-none second term set up the Eagles’ win.
Puopolo finished with 14 disposals and five tackles to be a solid contributor for the Hawks.
He said the Hawks would focus on recovery, review the loss and then fully focus on next week’s match.
