THINK the Hawks are satisfied with three in a row?

Think again.

In the immediate aftermath of the Hawks’ 46-point win against West Coast Eagles on Saturday afternoon, vice-captain Jordan Lewis said he could not see any reason why the Hawks can’t challenge for the flag again in 2016.

“We’ve got guys that are hungry,” he said.

“Guys that missed out today will hopefully drive the group, guys that won their first premiership today will really drive the group.

"It’s great to see guys like Ryan Schoenmakers and James Frawley get a taste of their first premiership. They understand what it’s like now, so hopefully they can really drive the group next year and we go for four in a row.

“It’s from the top down… The leaders have got to really drive the group to become successful again. We’re not just going to sit back and be a mediocre side, we want to play off for premierships.”

Now a four-time premiership player with Hawthorn – one of six players to have featured in the 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015 triumphs – Lewis was able to celebrate the win with six-day old son Freddie on the MCG.

He said the win was the result of a lot of hard work over a number of years.

“We’re very thankful we’re in this position, we don’t take it for granted,” Lewis said.

“To win three in a row, it is so hard to do these days,” Lewis said.

“To the group, they’ve just been outstanding, backing up.

“We’ve stayed hungry – we had a bit of a slow start to the year, we were four and four, so we had to really work for it, and even when we got to the finals we really had to work for it.”

As to whether the Hawks’ current crop compares to the team of the 1980s, which played in seven consecutive grand finals, Lewis said the three-peat “puts us in the conversation”.
