HAWTHORN currently has three players eligible to become free agents at the end of the 2015 season.

In an official list released by the AFL this week, Captain Luke Hodge, Matthew Suckling and Brendan Whitecross are listed as the Hawks to become eligible this year.

The trio would qualify as unrestricted free agents.

Hodge, 31, signed a one-year contract extension last year and is due to come out of contract at the end of this season.

The Hawks skipper, who will turn 31 in June, is coming off one of his best ever seasons where he won his second Norm Smith Medal and third premiership with the Hawks.

Suckling, who is widely regarded as one of the best kicks in the competition is coming off a terrific season, where he made a successful return from a knee reconstruction.

The Hawks super boot missed the entire 2013 season but made a triumphant return last year where he played 23 of a possible 25 games and was a member of the premiership team.

He averaged 20.8 disposals and kicked 12 goals.

Coming off two knee reconstructions, Whitecross will be hoping to make his return to footy this season and break back into Alastair Clarkson’s team.

He had played just 12 AFL games since suffering the first of his two ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments in 2012.

Whitecross suffered the first against Collingwood in the 2012 Qualifying Final and the second against Geelong in the 2013 Preliminary Final.

He has missed all three of Hawthorn’s Grand Final appearances of 2012-2014.
