HAWTHORN key defender James Frawley could be in contention for a senior recall this week, after making a successful return from injury with VFL affiliate Box Hill Hawks on Sunday.

Frawley, who was playing his first match since dislocating his shoulder in Round 13 against Essendon, played the first half of Box Hill’s Round 15 clash against Werribee.

He was among the Hawks’ standout performers at half-time, collecting nine disposals while predominantly marking North Melbourne-listed key forward Majak Daw, who was kept goalless.

Box Hill Hawks Coach Marco Bello said Frawley’s first-half return had been successful, while fellow Hawthorn-listed players Jed Anderson and Brendan Whitecross were also strong performers as they make their way back from injuries.

“With the shorter break, (that was) just precautionary to make sure we’ve got enough fit men for next week (against Richmond),” Bello said.

“He (Frawley) got through the game, which was pleasing.

“James, Whitey and Jed, who have had a couple of injuries of late, came through with flying colours, which was good.”

Frawley could come into contention for an immediate return to face Richmond this week, if fellow defender Matt Spangher is ruled out after sustaining a hamstring injury against Carlton on Friday night.
