Hawthorn Football Club has announced its newest Hall of Fame member, with former President Ian Dicker to be inducted at the club’s mid-season event in June.
Dicker served as Hawthorn president from 1996 to 2005, expertly guiding the Hawks through the ‘post-merger’ era.
Coming in as part of ‘Operation Payback’, Dicker immediately oversaw a dramatic change in the club’s financial position, helping double its membership base within 12 months.
He also played a pivotal role in relocating the Hawks to Waverley park, and was instrumental in realising a deal with Tasmania, which remains one of the strongest partnerships in the league today.
Dicker will become the 46th member of the Hawthorn Hall of Fame and the sixth president to be inducted.
He will be officially inducted during the Mighty Fighting Hawks Premiership Reunion on 15th June at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. The event will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of Hawthorn’s 1989 premiership, with several premiership players also in attendance.
Tickets can now be purchased for the event here.
