Hawthorn has let an early lead slip to go down to the Lions by 19 points.
However, despite being in front on the scoreboard at quarter time, Coach Alastair Clarkson doesn’t believe his side’s early control was as convincing as it appeared.
“By quarter time the game was pretty even,” Clarkson said after the match.
“The difference between the two sides was that we kicked our goals and Brisbane had missed theirs.
“We didn’t take some of our opportunities in the second quarter that allowed them a sniff and an opportunity to get back in the game.
“I thought for the greater part of the last two thirds of the game, Brisbane was the superior side.
“We just couldn’t get the game played on our terms.”
The Hawks will now use to mid-season bye to rest and reset, before turning focus to Essendon in Round 14.
